Musicians On Call is Celebrating Six Years of Continued Service to the Nashville Community

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 13, 2013) - In honor of Veterans Day, country artist Rodney Atkins made a special visit to the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System’s Nashville Campus VA Hospital yesterday, which was arranged through one of Musicians On Call’s weekly Bedside Performance Programs to visit with patients who have served in the U.S. military. The country music singer/songwriter went room to room personally thanking vets for their service and uplifting their spirits with performances of hits such as "Farmer's Daughter," "If You're Going Through Hell" and his latest single "Doin' It Right."

“Any time I can support our military heroes, I’m honored to be involved,” said Atkins. “Music is a powerful healer, and I’m grateful that programs like Musicians On Call provide these opportunities for artists to connect through music.”

Founded in 1999, Musicians On Call offers musicians such as Atkins the opportunity to bring their music to patients' bedsides. To date, these volunteers have played for over 400,000 people in healthcare facilities nationwide. The Nashville branch alone has visited nearly 60,000 patients in Middle Tennessee and will celebrate its sixth anniversary this week with an intimate concert headlined by Kelly Clarkson.
