Country star Rodney Atkins 'tickled to be a part' of SEC BeachFest

 
A chart-topping country music star with a decade of hits to his credit, playing on the beach to a bunch of Southern football fans? That certainly sounds like friendly territory. “I’m really tickled to be a part of it,” said Atkins, describing the SEC as “the best conference in the world.”
 
Atkins attended Tennessee Tech and says he’s still a fan of the Golden Eagles, who play in the Ohio Valley Conference. But he said he was aware of the SEC’s stature from the time he was “little bitty,” and it literally colored his formative years.
 
“For me, growing up … Tennessee orange was a part of everything,” he said. “I mean, on my wall when I was a kid, I had two posters. One was Farrah Fawcett and one was Johnny Majors.”
